Today was one of those... "Kill me" days. But on the bright side, I came home after work and changed clothes to go to Berlyn's Parent Teacher Conference, and..... I put on my size 10 Levis with no problem!!! I'm pretty excited!

I had every intention to eat more today. I was going to eat the hamburger patty for lunch and have a better dinner, but we left the house at 11:45 with the intention of being gone for several hours. But I just wasn't hungry at 11:45. So I took the yogurts with me and ate them on the run and didn't bother eating til 6. Tomorrow may or may not be a better day.

I decided that we need to be more strict on our food. I'm going to spend my day making a VERY detailed meal plan. And then... we're going to stick to it. Starting Friday. I have to work late today so I can't go grocery shopping til tomorrow night. Unless Curt goes in the morning.

Next subject. How to put this delicately... Something I have been eating is irritating my stomach. I have been using the bathroom way more than I'd like to be. While I'm glad I'm not constipated, the NEED to go sometimes is inconvenient.

UPDATE on the Idiot!!

That would be my children's father. I called Ethan's school this morning to have the school nurse check out his foot/ leg. Guess what? They have no school nurse there! I called my aunt, who is a nurse at the hospital down the road and asked her to meet me there and look at his foot and give me her opinion on if he needed to be seen or not. So, he comes out and takes off his wrap and my aunt said, "Oh my! You need to go in for this!" And Ethan said, "It's just a sprain. I got it x-rayed." Ummm... I called his father last night and left a message saying I would pay for it/ take him. And he didn't want to pay the money for it. Anyways... I never heard back from that message I left, so I figured he didn't take him. It's not broke, by the way. Ethan told me his father was mad that I put my nose in his business. FOR REALS?!?!?!??!? I gave birth to these kids! I don't lay my mom card down when they go over to his house for the 6 days. I don't expect him to put down his dad card when they're with me, although he does! He won't go to games, go to events, doesn't call, nothin' when they're with me. And he expects me to do the same thing and for thinking that, he can kiss my butt! So this what I told Ethan I would have said to his dad, had this happened on my week:

Ring, Ring... (knowing it would go straight to voice mail because he flat out refuses to talk to me)... "Hi, this is Jamie. Ethan hurt his foot today and I'm taking him into the Such and Such Hospital to get it checked out, if you want to come. I'll let you know what I find out when we get out."

That's just me. When I took Berlyn in for her teeth, I sent him a long email because I thought that he needed to know what was going on before I just sent him a bill. Our parenting plan states that we will keep each other informed of important things. His idea of important and my idea of important and extremely different! Jerk...

Once again... my children's father has managed to blow my mind! I got a call at about 10:30 p.m. from Ethan, asking to borrow the crutches. So of course asked why. He was at Boys Scouts and jumped over a fence without looking behind it and sprained his ankle. He came over to get the crutches and his ankle was swelled at least 2 times bigger than normal! I think he should have gone in, just to check it out. His father's insurance covers 100% on an accident if you get it checked out in the first 72 hours. OH NO!!! He didn't think there was anything wrong and didn't want to spend any money. WHAT PART OF COVERED 100% DOES HE NOT GET?!?!?!?! I even offered to take him in and pay for it. Ethan went out to tell him this (I asked him to come back and tell me what was going on) and I heard a yelling matching, a door slam and his father tear away from the driveway like he was fleeing the plague! UGH!!!!! I hate that man! Obviously... he didn't take him in! I'm thinking about calling the school and having the school nurse check him out.

DAY 36- CRUISE PHASE- SPETMEBER 26, 2011

J: Taco omelet

Dinner:
C and J: chicken thighs in tomato sauce and coleslaw

Water:
C: 1 quarts of water, 2 Budlights
J: 4 quarts of water, 1 Mikes Harder Lemonades

WOW!! Another GREAT day! Curt told me this morning that we need to play racquetball everyday! But.... yesterday was a fluke. It is TTOM for me so I have issues with playing while on my period. I actually get quite crabby about the whole thing and have fits of rage! And then I say mean things that I regret later. So... for me... racquetball and periods don't mix. BUT! We can ride bikes. As an adult now, I look back and wonder how I ran track and cross country and played volleyball and basketball while it was TTOM. I don't remember it ever being an issue.

When I first started this diet, I took my measurements and for giggles, decided to check in on them. My pants have been feeling loose and I've been having to pull them up. So... my upper waist/ under my bust is down 1.5 inches, my bust is down 2 inches, my waist is down 3 inches, my hips are down 2 inches, my thighs are down 1 inch each and my upper arms are down .5 inch each. That's a total of 11.5 inches!! I'll check in again in another month.

Oh, boobs... where did you go??? The only benefit I saw from my weight gain was that I finally had boobs without lactating! So... I'm seeing the need for new, much smaller bras in my future. I'm a little sad. But I also knew that this would be the first area affected. Good thing boobs can be replaced!

DAY 35- CRUISE PHASE- SPETMEBER 25, 2011

J: 2 quarts of water and I have no idea how much coconut drink

Exercise:
40 minutes of racquetball and 5 minutes of bicycling

That little plateau that we hit seems to be gone for now. Woohoo! Finally some success on a regular basis!

Sunday was a lazy day. I had every intention of going to church, but I didn't set my alarm because I rarely sleep past 8. But when we woke up at 9:30, I knew there was no way I could get 4 kids and myself ready in time. Curt decided to use some vacation time and stay home. I will never complain about that!

So we watched football and played racquetball and just watched TV. I like days like that!

Notes from Curt again...

I know it's been a while since I've written, but I've been keeping up with what Jamie has been writing.

Yeah, I loved getting flowers for my wife, she's so appreciative of stuff like that, and the look on her face TOTALLY makes it worth my while to do nice things for her like that. She puts up with me asking all the time, "Can we eat donuts? Can we eat rice? Can we have tortillas, cuz I TOTALLY want a burrito." I think she knows I'm just messing with her when I ask these things, but I also know it wears on her... She's fantastic, and she's alot of fun to mess with.

Anyway... I've been pretty happy with the results of this diet. I'm not losing like the BIGGEST LOSER contestants, but I also know I can't expect that unless I was working out for 8 hours a day. I'm happy with what I've done, and I'm still moving in the right direction.

Today we played racquetball again. Jamie said she noticed right away that I'm MUCH quicker, and moving better for the ball than I used to be. Before I would assume I can't get to it and wouldn't try. Today I decided to go for EVERYTHING, and my sweaty back was proof! ;) We had a great time playing today. I love it when we leave the court and are holding each other and still looking for kisses. It's much better than when one of us is pissy and upset with our performance.

I asked Jamie to make her WONDERFUL spicy lime chicken today. I know we're very limited on what we can eat, but dog gone, if that woman doesn't make things that I can't wait to have again!

So, for all of those that are out there working on this diet, I really hope you are all as lucky as I am to have a GREAT partner... someone who pushes you to keep on the path, and who will kick your ass as hard as they can if you cheat and have a donut.... can you tell I want a donut?!?!? Maple bars... they are my kryptonite.

We have the next two days off together. We're making plans for future ideas, and enjoying every second we have with each other. I think I want to take her out for a movie, so we can make out and stuff... like we should have when we were in high school! That's another story... one of us will tell it one of these days soon. Jamie and I were destined to be together... God tried to do it for us in high school, but we were too stupid... but, we made it right 15 years later.

Alright... time to get kids in the shower for school tomorrow.

Curt

PS: While we love our time together, the kids can be pretty funny...

Briyanna loves to jump behind us when we're trying to get a pic together. Sometimes we make them take the pix, but these were some quick shots she jumped behind... we have a few more too. She's crazy.

I've done my math wrong somewhere along the way so I will fix it later. But... I do know that I have reached 11 lbs today! Curt had to be at work at 6:30 this morning so he spaced weighing in.

I hate Saturdays when we both work and we have kids. If we have a grandparent home it works out ok for them to go over there. But my parents are traveling the west coast and Curt's parents are on vacation with friends for the weekend. So the kids are home alone. Scary... But at least this weekend, Brenna is at a friend's house for the day and Ethan is going to the corn maze with friends for the afternoon, so it's down to 3 kids. What I had done ALL AFTERNOON yesterday was make a very detailed list of cleaning for them to do. I have found that when THEY clean the house, they are less likely to destroy it in a minute, which infruriates me like you wouldn't believe. Not only that, it keeps them busy and they don't sit with their butts planted in front of the computer or watching TV or playing xbox. They have to EARN those privileges by cleaning. Oh! I got off subject. So I planned this nice, long list of chores. FOR 5 KIDS! So I got to work this morning and I had to rework my lists for 3 kids. Oh those poor, poor children! I'm such a mean mother! With a clean house! I'v been having whiners lately so I decided it needs to come to an end. Today is my big test.

I had another headache today... thus the extra soda. I was thinking it was the lack of caffeine, but even after I drank it, I was out of it. I even fell asleep at work for 18 minutes.

Today was school pictures. So with Berlyn all dressed up, I took pictures of her. #1. My pictures normally turn out as good/ better than their school pictures. And #2. She's a very photogenic kiddo. Here's a couple of my favorites:

OH! And when I got home from work yesterday, I came home to these:

Love that guy!!

UGH!!! What a day! Berlyn went in for her first tooth pulling this morning. This is the kid who doesn't fake things to get attention, unlike other children I own. I was in the hallway on the phone when I heard her start whimpering and by the time I got into the room, she was in a full blown scream. They were putting bands around her teeth that were too tight. And then the hygienist couldn't get the darned thing out! It finally came out, but I thought she was going to have to climb on her chest and start yanking. She had laughing gas, which is always a hoot. She once asked me, "Is this what it feels like to be drunk?" I'm guessing, pretty close! She got 2 teeth capped, 1 tooth pulled and an impression for her retainer. Before we could even get out of the office, she started crying. And she cried and cried and cried. For an hour. We went to Walmart and got Advil and Oraljel. Neither helped much. I called the dentist office back and really got no good advice. So on the way home, she is still crying and I ask her specifically what is hurting. Well... nothing really. It ends up that she didn't like the feeling of the feeling coming back. Sheesh... I told her to put on her big girl panties and get over it! And from then on... NO PROBLEMS! Crazy kid. I went to work and Curt took a vacation day to hang out with her. I got a text from Curt, "I think Berlyn is still high!"

BRIYANNA: had a cross country meet. She can in 2nd over all the girls, first in her school! And I forgot to mention... Ethan and Briyanna both ran in a local community race and Ethan won overall and Briyanna came in first for the girls. This is when I want to beat Ethan with a remote control for not doing cross country for his school.

What we did for fun tonight:

Woohoo, CURT! He had a great number this morning. Maybe we're getting back on track.

Our last of day of freedom before we go back to work. Well, for me at least. Berlyn had a dentist appointment today with a pediatric dentist. Her regular dentist wouldn't fill her last filling. So we went in thinking, we'll go in, he'll fill it, we'll leave. An hour and a half later... we find out that her teeth are so bad that we are going to have to get major dental work done. Of her 8 baby molars, 1 has been pulled and 2 more need to be pulled because they are abscessed. And the other 5 have to be capped. Then she has to have space maintainers and space retainers put in to keep her back molars from shifting. I'm wondering... ummm... how did her dentist miss this?!?!?! He didn't even take x-rays the last time she had an appointment. I'm a little irritated, but THOROUGHLY impressed with this new dentist. I might be moving all the kids over to him. He was very, very thorough. She has her first appointment tomorrow, getting at least 1 of the abscess teeth pulled. I got off a couple hours in the morning to go in with her. But Curt took a vacation day to stay home with her. I kind of figure she just might be out of it for awhile.

DAY 30- CRUISE PHASE- SPETMEBER 20, 2011

We had a busy day: feeding Blue, a work meeting, a little shopping, a math lesson with Ethan's teacher, picking kids up from school, fixing a printer... twice, school open house. I'm sure there is more. So we had to eat lunch and dinner on the run. We hit Panda Express for lunch and did our best with what was there. And we went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner. I had originally planned on making chile relleno for dinner anyways, so I thought, let's just save a lot of time and go the restaurant. OMG! Can you say CHEESE?!?!?! I don't love cheese to begin with so I literally gagged it down! It makes me dry heave just thinking about it. Next time I have a hankering for chile relleno, I'll make my own, minus 9 cups of cheese.

Curt and I both had today off. We tried sewing this morning but my sewing machine decided to be a butt. So I bought a new one. Ahhh.. this one is so quiet and SO FAST!! I had serger issues last week and thought I would have to buy a new one of those too. But I forgot that I had one (one of my 4) repaired last summer and I hadn't used it since I got it fixed! It's like 2 brand new machines! I got quite a it of sewing done, but my back started killing me! I remember why I drank alcohol when I was sewing. Advil was my friend today. After a long break (5 hours) I sewed a little more this evening, working on Ethan's quilt. I'm going to have that thing done in the next week, if I'm not careful! Then I might have to finish the one I started for my sister-in-law 5 years ago!

We got a new toy yesterday afternoon. We've been trying to find quick easy snacks and couldn't find anything. Finally, we settled on jerky. I bought a dehydrator and started making jerky yesterday. It smells fabulous and according to Curt, it tastes good. I tried one last night at midnight (when I had to set my alarm to wake up and take them off) and I can honestly say... I don't remember how it tasted. Spicy, I believe. But everything I make is spicy! My poor children.... They don't know a world of food without spicy.

I forgot that it was pure protein today and ate a cucumber. My bad.. I have to admit, my drinking habits today were atrocious!! I was so busy, busy, busy that I just didn't about it or lunch.

Some projects I've been working on today:

#1: My 3 girls are named Briyanna, Brenna and Berlyn. We affectionately call them B1, B2 and B3. I went to Deseret Industries on Tuesday just lookin' and found a "B" and an "L" and since the girls are in one room, I picked them up to play with them. I spray painted them a dark ivory color today. I have done 1 coat and will do another coat tomorrow.

The grass after. I'm actually thinking about enter this into the fair next year cuz it looks cool.

# 2. I had these chairs sitting in my garage and I bought a couple cans of red spray paint and I thought, "That chair needs to be red!" I'm going to distress it Tuesday when it's dry (it needs another coat on the seat) and then it will go on my front porch. I'm going to paint the other one ivory.

#3. Well... next week is going to be fall, so I started getting started on that today. It felt like fall today to me.

#4. Ethan has been bugging me for a denim quilt for.. years? So I decided to get started on it. I cut out the blocks earlier this summer. Tonight I started the sewing and got 2/17ths of it done!

I had a couple visitors in the house tonight!

I am so embarrassed that we caved so bad last night that I almost didn't post today. UGH!!!! We were both so weak!!! But omg... it was so good and Red Robin was calling our names! You have to understand that we were easily eating out 3-5 times a week, so to go from that to this was culture shock. I'm really surprised we don't cave in more often. We're back on track today (now Sunday), but I wanted you all to know why my weight jumps up ridiculously in 2 or 3 days!

Curt and I both work today. I woke up feeling pretty bloated and yucky. I've noticed I'm hovering at this weight for the past 2 + weeks. I have a couple of theories as to why this is happening, mainly because I'm not being as strict as I should be. That would be the worst, but I also just don't feel like exercising. I always have an excuse, and honestly, they're all legitimate excuses. But I could squeeze in half an hour here or there. The gym opens at 5 a.m.. On days I work, I could go then, get home by 6 and still get the kids ready for school. I already hate getting up at 6 tho, and I think that 5 a.m. could be just brutal. It's a thought. I also could go after work at 7 because it's open til 10. My big issue with that is, the weeks I have my kids, I hate to go from work, to the gym and then home, just in time to send them to bed. I could take them with me (we have family passes), but them being alone means they normally don't have their homework done, or the house is a mess. As I think about that... it's a bad excuse on my part. Thursday is the only day they have classes the next day. Alright... I'm going to try to start working on this. Tomorrow. I HAVE A GOOD EXCUSE! Tonight is a Boise State University football game, and we just don't miss those! My third theory is that I'm not "going" often at all. Maybe I'll try Metamucil or something.

So my goals:
Exercise 5 times a week, at least 30 minutes.
Quit creating excuses for my failing to do these 2 things.

Now I need to brag on Briyanna. I got an email from her science teacher saying that all but 3 kids failed her test on Wednesday, and here is the test, make your kid study for the retake. I texted her father (who was surprisingly cooperative... write this in your date book, ya'll!) and asked him to have her call me. I didn't want to forward the email unless it was absolutely necessary. Long story short, she missed only 1! She was pretty darn proud of herself!

And to brag on BSU! Good win!! This picture isn't exactly appropriate for this game. They played in Toledo, Ohio, not home.

WOOHOO! I'm pretty happy about my numbers this morning. I'm under the 170's. Hope I can stay there! I took a shower yesterday afternoon when I got home from my class and for giggles, I weighed myself then, and I was lower than my original morning weigh in! So I was crossing my fingers that I would have a good number today.

I'm back at work. Thank goodness, it's cooler than it has been and it looks like rain, maybe? I love rain! If I wake up in the morning and it's cloudy outside... it's a darn good day!

Briyanna had a cross country meet at her school. Briyanna was sicker earlier this week (missed school on Monday) and it affected her running. She ended up quitting because she couldn't breathe.

Curt didn't work today. He did laundry and had a somewhat lazy day. He may not agree with me, but.... I know he watched some TV, played some video games. I'm looking forward to having one of those sometime next week.

We're home... sitting on the couch, lights off, TV off... We're a sad couple. I think we'll just head to bed!

Another great day for Curt!!! So proud of him! I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever get down into the 160's. I've been hovering right above it for the past 2 weeks!

Curt and I both worked today. Well.. I kind of worked. I had to take a college course on Assistance with Meds. It was actually quite entertaining. I missed 3 out of 50 so I passed and have a fancy certificate now! It was supposed to last til 5:30, but I was out at 2:15. I have a nice chunk of my day left! I need to sew tho, so I can't get too excited.

I got a raging headache this afternoon. That's not totally true... I was overwhelmed with flashing lights that would have gone into a full-blown migraine had I not taken medication. But I did still get some of a headache. Frustrating...

YAY for Curt!

Watching ESPN this morning... why is Poker considered a sport when cheerleading isn't?

The roast for dinner was fantastic. It might have been a little against the rules tho. I mixed brown gravy mix, ranch dressing mix and Italian dressing mix w/ the roast and threw it into a crockpot for 7 hours. FABULOUS!!

Curt worked today, I did not! And I did nothing all day long. Well... kinda. I worked in Brenna's classroom for an hour this afternoon and I spent some time visiting thrift stores. I was looking for old wooden crates (I found 3 at an antique store) to go on the plant shelves for our books. Also, we're planning a big FALL party this October for all the kids, so I'm trying to find stuff to decorate, altho I'm going to use lots of pumpkins and gourds and cornstalks. I found quite a few things actually. Enough to get started on for now. I'll post pictures of my finds later. I know Shauna will appreciate them!

Dinner:
C and J: 1/2 of a stuffed green pepper and 1/4 of a stuffed zucchini each

Water:
C: 2 quarts of water, 1 can Diet Dr. Pepper, 1 can Sprite Zero
J: 2 quarts of water, 1 can Cherry Coke Zero, 16 oz. Diet Pepsi, 1 can Sprite Zero, 1 bottle Orange Jubilee

wow.... We really downed the soda. We'll have to work on cutting that out again.

I'm up again... Irritating. And I would like to know why, but it's ok. My body is KILLING me from yesterday. The sand did something to my right ankle and left knee. And my abs are burning from treading water. I'm basically sitting here on the couch being waited on. No real physical exercise today for me.

The kids all go back to their other parents tomorrow so tonight, they are my slaves! This house is gonna be clean before they leave because, well... I figure they made the majority of the mess, if not all. It's funny how the 6 days they're gone, the house is pretty much spotless because I spend the whole morning they leave on cleaning the house. So I have proof that it's them. *Later: my house looks FABULOUS!!!
Oh! And I'm an evil mama! We put a lock on the pantry door today. We bought 3 boxes of Zingers a couple weeks ago for school lunches. I had 2 kids taking lunches occasionally, so maybe 1 box should be gone. We put these in OUR closet for safe keeping. Well... all but 5 were gone. That is when I about lost it! So this is mainly for when we are both working and right after school. They seem to think they need unlimited access to all the food all the time. Not so, my dears. I've put up notes and reminded them over and over to ask first. When I clean rooms and find a trash can full of various wrappers, I know that I'm being ignored. So if they can't listen to me and respect my requests, they are going to be on a very short leash!

Lunch:

The creamy lettuce and tomato salad... I loved it! I'm not so sure Curt did, but he did eat it. I made enough for lunch and dinner so I'm pretty happy. I got the recipe from Dukan It Out, but, of course, I had to add my little tweak to it.

CREAMY ICEBERG AND CHERRY TOMATO SLAW

3 T lowfat buttermilk
3 T plain greek yogurt
my special seaosning
1t rice vinegar
1/2 head iceberg lettuce, shredded
3 tomatoes, chopped
1/4 onion, finely chopped

Mix the first 4 ingredients and refrigerate til you are ready to serve. Just before serving, toss the lettuce and tomatoes in the dressing and top with freshly ground pepper.

I meant to take a picture of the stuffed green peppers. They were fabulous! I ate more than I should have and still wanted more.

Curt sounding off...

So, I'm going to pipe in here... I've kinda been doing this diet because Jamie is, and it didn't really bother me one way or the other... Jamie does a FANTASTIC job in making food, so I'll eat what she puts in front of me (or what she asks me to make).

I know I haven't lost a TON of weight (yet), but the little bit I have lost has already translated into a couple of BIG victories! One of which: I'm already wearing shirts I couldn't wear just 2 months ago. The other big victories are repairing other insecurities I have had about myself for years. I've already had to adjust the waist band on many of my basketball short draw strings!

Anyway... this is actually the SMALLEST thing that has made me really start my "GUNG HO" attitude. My new attitude now starts with the many things Jamie has been saying about how much she appreciates me helping her!

I might share my story on here later, but for now I'll just say that while it's no secret that Jamie and I were both married to others before, I've never been so encouraged, and been so appreciated and praised just for being me. I'm HAPPY to work with my wife on this 'project', so we can be be ridiculously in love for years!

C: 2 quarts water, 2- 12 oz Bud Lights
J: 2.5 quarts water, 3- 16 oz Mike's Hard Lemonades

We decided yesterday that since the gym we're members at is closed for maintenance
til Tuesday we would do something today with the kids that would keep us active so we picked going to the Bruneau Sand Dunes would be perfect and then Given's hot springs. We got up fairly early and got to the Sand Dunes and stopped at the first dune we got to. It looked pretty small and conquerable so we park. The kids all ran to the base of it and we thought... "Oh, Crap!!"

Oh my.. what a feat to get to the top! Curt and I realized/ confirmed, yes... we are out of shape. Especially when we watch Ethan climb, run down, climb, run down, climb, run down, climb.... all before we got to the top. Once Curt got to the top, he stayed at the top. I ran half way down twice and that's about it. It wore us out! Every step we would take, we would sink half way up our shins in sand.

Yes... I know I look pregnant... I'm NOT!

We needed a little relaxation afterwards to we went to Given's Hot Springs. We got in a good hour and a half work out playing pool volleyball, basket ball, how long can you hold your breath game and tread water while a 7 year old would jump in at us.

Between the heat and the water, we were wiped out by the time we got home and spent the rest of the night relaxing. I made Asian Chicken Lettuce wraps.... they were fabulous and spicy!!!! LOVED, LOVED, LOVED them!!

All this play made some of us pretty tired! Berlyn:

C: several teetherball games
J: 20 sit ups, 10 push ups and an extremely intense teetherball game against Curt

Now Curt gets to fluctuate some! We have decided to added a good chunk of exercising into our routines. After thinking about it some, we realized if we have the discipline to change our eating habits this easily, why can't we have to discipline to make exercise a daily routine? I'm not sure either of us are going to manage that today. It's a pretty busy day for both of us. *LATER: We went to pick the kids up at my mom's and the kids were all playing teetherball. It wasn't long before we were challenged. So I love it when your kids all think they can kick your butt and you beat them. I take sick pleasure in it actually. Curt and I played each other too. It went back and forth and lasted about 5 minutes. I ended up winning, but he may have let me win. BUT... He did hit me square in the nose and it hurt pretty bad. I've had issues since then. I'm blowing blood out, and I have sinus pressure now. And worse, I was winded for about 10 minutes!

The kids, most of them, spent the day at my mom's today. Ethan got to split wood with my dad to earn a little extra money. The other kids got to run around the farm and do farmy things. It's better than them sitting at home on their butts, watching TV, playing xbox or on the computer... AND MESSING UP THE HOUSE.

My story

I thought about this for awhile and wasn't sure I wanted all my dirty laundry out on the line, but unfortunately, I'm an open book, to my parents and maybe even my husband's dismay. Oh well.. that's why my mom doesn't know about this blog!

I grew up always the smallest, skinniest kid in the class. I remember being in the 4th grade and wearing size 6x. And when I was in junior high and high school, as a cheerleader, I was always on the top. I never really thought anything about it, but now, when I look back at pictures and see my little tooth pick legs, it blows my mind. I can not actually remember ever weighing myself in high school because I was skinny and just didn't care. I ate anything and everything I wanted and it didn't change anything. I'm jealous of my past self...
I didn't start watching my weight until college. I went away from home and heard about the "freshman 15" and worried a bit. I tended to eat the main dish, the salad bar and a Pepsi for every lunch and dinner, a bagel for breakfast. But I kept getting sick. I had horrible diarrhea and sometimes I would throw up. I was missing most of my afternoon classes so I had to go the school nurse and get a note for it, almost daily. Finally the nurse said, "I think we need to weigh you." I'm about 5 foot 7 inches- short my husband says, but that's another story, and when the nurse weighed me, I weighed in at a whooping 103 lbs. The nurse kinda freaked out, so she made me write down EVERYTHING I was eating to see what was causing me to be sick. Come to find out, the preservative on the salad was messing with my system. So, I cut out the salad. And even tho I did that, I still never put weight on. About a year later, I got married, and at 3 months pregnant, I still weighed only 106 lbs. I was hoping I was going to be like my mom who weighed 120 lbs when she gave birth to my brother and I. Alas... that would not be how it worked about. At 5 months pregnant, I weighed 127 lbs. (the last time I've seen that weight!) and 4 months later on the day I delivered Ethan, I weighed in at 203 lbs!!! The secret to my weight gain, you ask?? I made, and ate, an entire 9 x 13 chocolate cake EVERY DAY! And I ate a lot of lasagna! But amazingly, a week after I had him, I weighed 130 lbs. I lost a huge chunk of the weight, but my body (hello stretch marks!!) was never the same. When Ethan was 4 1/2 months old, I got pregnant with Briyanna. I had the same weight gain, the same weight loss. A year and half later, I was pregnant with Brenna. Now that pregnancy seemed fairly similar, but when I was 6 months pregnant, we moved from Idaho to Virginia, meaning I left behind my doctor and all that I knew. Long story short, my original due date was October 16th, moved to November 1 due to an ultrasound early in the pregnancy, and I had her on November 28th, weighing in at a grand total of 11 lbs, 5 oz. It was one of the hardest things I've ever gone thru. A week before I delivered, I broke down into tears because my joints in my hips were tugging and when I sat down, I couldn't see my knees. I was on crutches even because of my hips. One week before I had her, my doctor, who I could not convince that I don't go into labor on my own, said we'd do an ultra sound and if she was over 8 lbs, he would induce me. The ultra sound showed she was 7.5 lbs. I looked like I was about to have triplets. I was enormous! Anyhow, he laughed when she was born. I wanted to punch him. And after I had her... I've NEVER been below 145 lbs. since. I've had one more kid since then, Berlyn, and after wards, I got down to 150 lbs and hovered bewteen 145 and 152 lbs. for years.
Now onto where I'm at now! At the time, I was married to a guy that messed with my head. He was a controlling, manipulative jerk. He often told me I was fat. He refused to be happy or nice, but demanded that I be the wife he wanted. But I didn't comply to his "demands" willingly. He introduced me to this little thing called vodka. I began drinking alot, and heavily at night just to make it through the evening with him. I couldn't stand him. I slowly started putting on weight. I finally got the guts to leave... That's another post in itself. But even after I left him, I still found myself drinking way too much. It was frustrating. I wanted to quit, but I found that I just had that "need" for the escaping feeling that I had gotten used to over the past 2+ years. I have finally really quit drinking nightly. And honestly... very, very hard. As you can see, I still have a drink occasionally, but it's definitely not an every night thing anymore. I was coaching soccer for a good part of this which meant I was running about 5 miles a day, for 3 days a week, so I was keeping off the weight then. But after I stopped coaching and became less active, the consequences piled up: an extra 30 lbs. It sucks. It was much easier to put it on than it is to take it off. I have hovered around 175 lbs, but I hit 180 lbs and decided that was it. My neighbor had told me about this Dukan diet for several weeks and finally in August, I asked to borrow her book and that was the beginning of all of this! On our first weigh-in, I weighed in at 180.2 lbs, really... the highest I've ever been while not pregnant. I'm so disappointed in myself that I let myself get that high. But it's time for a change, and I'm pretty excited about it.
Obviously, Curt is NOT my first husband. Curt is the most encouraging and supportive partner that I could ever ask for in this lifetime. We've know each other well since 8th grade, so we had a great friendship to base our relationship now on. It's wonderful, and I love every moment I spend with him!

FINALLY! A positive number for both of us! Curt hit another goal! He lost his first stone!! Woohoo! I was going to go into depression if mine went up again! When I actually think about the weight gain... my mind keeps going back to that stupid cake. Little Miss Contrary pointed out that maybe I'm not eating enough and she just might be right. I'm going to up my calories today a bit. I'm not big on eating when I'm not hungry, but I'm going to try it.

I went to one yard sale and picked up a garbage bag full of clothes for Berlyn, including a L.L. Bean coat with tags still on it, all for $4.50. And at another, I found an old steamer trunk in great shape for $2. I LOVE steamer trunks. I bought one last spring that I put in my dining room. It is in awful shape and I paid $34 for it, so pretty happy about today's find! I store my Grandma Corn's silverware and all of my sewing stuff in it. This one I found today is shorter. I think I'm going to put it on one of my plant shelves when I get home, maybe drape a vintage wedding ring quilt out of it that I picked up at a yard sale last year for $15. I found that quilt and the lady (already quite old) told me her grandmother made it. I'm 35 and I know my grandmother would roll in her grave if I sold something she put hours and hours into for $15. Ok... do you like the lid of the steamer trunk open or closed? I want your honest opinion. And yes... Poor Ethan was tortured up there. And another yes... I need to clean that vent.

I have to tell you all.. I have the best husband in the world! When I work, he makes me "breakfast at work" since I'm up and gone too early for "breakfast in bed." It makes my morning so much easier to not have to worry about that. This morning he made the most fantastic omelet. It's a PV day so he loaded it with every kind of veggie we had in the frig. It was FABULOUS! Love that man!

UGH!!!!! I put on yet another pound! If I was actually trying to put on weight, that would be fantastic! If I don't see a loss tomorrow, I'm going to go pure protein for a couple more than 3 days. I was over a 10 lbs. loss less than a week go and now I'm under 7. I am not a happy girl. At least Curt caught back up to his loss and is holding steady.

I dropped Briyanna at her bus stop and she forgot her P.E. clothes and water for her cross country meet. But I also had to activate her cash card for dinner on the way home from the meet. Her run was in Mountain Home and it was not cool here today. She came in 3rd for girls out of 70+ girls!!! Who's child is this??? Ethan's a phenomenal runner too, only he chose to not run this year... little poop!

I gained again. Grrrrr... I almost don't want to talk about it. I feel like I'm starving and depriving myself just to gain weight. We did do another pure protein plus veggies again because we both had the day off. The next 3 days we both work and I plan on pure protein all 3 days. It's lots easier to do those pure protein days when we're working.

Briyanna cheered at her first football game yesterday and has her first cross country meet today. I'll let you all know how she does at her meet, but here is a pic of her and her best friend, Taylor. Briyanna is on the left.

It was an otherwise slow day. We watched "Sons of Anarchy" in the morning, ran errands and played video games in the afternoon, went to the football game long enough to snap a few pictures of Briyanna (too hot), watched "Big Brother" at night (YAY, Kalia, the whiner, got voted off), bossed some kids around and that's about it.

We got a bag full of tomatoes from Curt's mom today... FANTASTIC! And we got fresh corn on the cob from both his mom and my mom and fresh zucchinis from my mom! Just love it when I know people who have gardens! WE ARE NOT EATING THE CORN!!! The kids are. They will be thrilled!

Exercise:
45 minutes of racquetball
Once again... weight fluctuation! While it's frustrating, I've seen enough progress in the past 2 weeks that I'm ok with it.

I didn't have breakfast this morning. Curt had to be at work at 7:30 so he was up and gone early, giving me a chance to sleep in. Sadly, sleeping in was 7:37, but better than 6:15, right? Then, I had a lazy morning. I just laid in bed til about 11:00. I got long enough to let Rosy out.

(An odd picture of Rosy that Briyanna took. She's really just a munchkin of a dog, but you wouldn't know from this pic.)

Finally.... some exercise today. I've been wanting to get out and exercise anyways, but I got a text from Curt this morning asking me to reserve a racquetball court for this evening. I was a little worried it would be closed because of the holiday today, but nope! They're open regular hours! We went with the court reserved for an hour and a half. We normally go for at least an hour, pretty close the the hour and a half time. We BARELY made it to 45 minutes. It was pathetic, and I think the reason we didn't last very long was because we were extremely hungry. It was still fun. We got lots of running in and lots of laughs. We completely enjoy each others company. To the point it embarrasses our children.

OH! That darned birthday cake! My co-worker called this afternoon and asked if I wanted 1/4 of a birthday cake. I went over and got the cake with the intention that it would be for my kids. Now... keep in mind... I live 8 houses from work, and we drove. By the time we made the 32 second drive home, we had talked ourselves into a piece of that stupid cake. Bad, bad, bad. We may have to have another pure protein day tomorrow to make up for it. Only... I'm really needing veggies in my system.

I WANT FRENCH FRIES!!!!!!

There... I said it. I saw it on a TV show and I must say... I am a very easily persuaded individual. Alright. Back to my yogurt.

I'm getting a little tired of the weight gain. But at least it's not a huge amount. We cheated somewhat tonight. I know it's a pure protein day, but I had a really crappy day today. Excuses, Excuses.. So it's bad enough that I can't even begin to post what it's all about. YES... that bad! Anyways, I spent the first half of my day in a tail spin and the second half of my day pissed off and crabby. So when I got home, we decided to eat out. Besides, it's been 12 days since we've eaten out and it will probably be that long before we eat out again. We went to Sunrise Inn. It's a nice little breakfast-served-all-day cafe. It was a nice change and the waitress was very willing to work with our demanding requests. Alright... we weren't that bad.

WOOHOO! I reached my second goal today! I lost half a stone- 7 lbs! I had a heck of a time finding out what a stone was. I searched high and low and asked serveral times with no answer. I finally found out it was 14 lbs. Mystery solved!!

This is gonna be quick because we're tired and it's late. We both have to be at work at 7 a.m. so morning will come to soon... BLAH!

Curt got a phone call that his best friend had a heart attack at work this afternoon. I'm not positive how old he is, but I know he's between my age (35) and 40. Crazy!! Curt went up to the hospital to see him and take his wife her phone charger. He got a stint to clear a clogged artery and is now recovering in the hospital for the next few days. Please send up a prayer for him and his family.

Well, we're back at or below our highest weigh loss again. I was a little worried, if I'm honest. We need start getting exercise in, but it's hard when we one or both of us work. Curt works 10 hrs and I work 12 hrs. I realize we both do a lot of sitting, but 20 minutes of exercise sounds very uninviting after working all day. I decided that the days I don't work and Curt does, I'm going to the gym, and maybe I can try to talk him into racquet ball on the days we both are off.

So tomorrow, we move into the Cruise phase. During this phase, we alternate days between pure protein (what we did during the attack phase) and pure protein + veggies (no corn, potatoes.. anything starchy). We stay in this phase until we reach our desired weight. We could be here for awhile... I make that sound awful! I struggled the first few days, but now I'm not bad at all. Yeah, every once in awhile french fries sound fabulous, but it really passes quite quickly. And once the veggies are back in, I should be fine. I'm speaking for myself here. I'm not sure how Curt feels about it. I know he says, "I'll just eat what you put in front of me," but he should throw his 2 cents in here.
