Curt and I made a decision together that we need to add a bit of carbs and fruit back into our diets.  We are both struggling mentally and think it may be due our lack of carbs.  This doesn't mean that we are thoroughly off Dukan.  We are using what we have learned from Dukan and using it as a base.  When I say adding carbs, we mean maybe a few whole grain crackers into a snack, a sandwich here and there.  We have been upping our exercise alot and hope that this will help offset what we add in.

On a different note, I am at a all new low.  And I took my measurements again.  Since August, I have shed 19.75 inches from my body.  I have taken 2 inches off each thigh, almost 5 inches from my boobs (GRRRR), almost 4 from waist and hips.  I'm pretty happy with those numbers!  I'm going to start working harder on my belly and thighs.  Those are my big problem areas....

Day 59

I'm not sure what our weights were this morning, but I know we were both up.  I was up .8 lbs and I think that Curt was up .2 lbs, but I'm not sure exactly what.  I'll get the weights for sure tomorrow.  We both have behaved well as far as eating goes.  We both worked out yesterday and I worked out today.  I have strength training tomorrow at 9 a.m.  I'm super excited about that.  I took a shower tonight after I worked out and weighed in before I jumped in.  I weighed exactly the same as I did this morning so I'm REALLY hoping for a good number in the morning.  It's late...  gotta get up at 6 to get kids off to school so off to bed.  I'll be a better blogger tomorrow.

Well...  I guess no water aerobics this morning.  I looked up their website and their 9 am workout in the water is called "Let's Go Deep" and this girl is deathly afraid of deep water.  We're going to go watch it and see if they use some sort of flotation devices and just watch for a couple minutes to see how it works.
LATER: ARGH! We went to the rec center...  they WERE doing the water aerobics! Darn it!

And We're up, again.  No surprise.  It's the way our bodies seems to work, but I felt so close to breaking thru a barrier that I haven't gotten passed in MONTHS.  Maybe next week...

Lunch, to me, was fantastic!  I took spicy pork rinds that are carb free, but high in fat, crushed them and put a thin layer over the egg dipped pork steaks and grilled them.  YUMMY!

Today was supposed to be a PP day, but we decided to make it a PV day since it is Curt's last day off for the next 6 days.  I was looking at numbers and Curt has lost 6 lbs in 1 week!  Amazing!  We've both been working really hard this week and behaving amazingly.  We've been sitting here playing cards and watching movies this evening and we almost talked ourselves into a couple glasses of wine because our backs were starting to ache.  But we talked ourselves out of it.  I think we're going to try to get up tomorrow and do the water aerobics at the rec center.  We'll see.  But I'm going to sign up for a strength training class 2 days a week, Tues and Thurs mornings from 9-10.  Then Curt can come down with me and do his own work out during that time.  I'm actually pretty excited about it.  It starts next Tuesday.

Okay...  off to more scary movies!

This is what we woke up to this morning:
LOVE IT!

We tried something new this morning.  I am SO SICK AND TIRED of plain old eggs and ham that I do ANYTHING in my power not to eat them anymore.  In fact, when I do have to eat plain eggs, I gag them down.  So, once again...  I was reading in the magazines from my mother-in-law and found scrambled egg muffins and they were terrific!

Here's the recipe.  It supposedly makes 12 muffins, but I got 18.

1/2 lbs. ground sausage, browned and drained
12 eggs
1/2 onion, chopped finely
1/4 c. red bell pepper, chopped finely
4 green onions, chopped finely
1/4 t. garlic power
1 t. salt
1/2 t. black pepper

Combine all ingredients in a bowl, spoon into muffin tins (2/3 full), bake for 20-25 minutes @ 350 degrees.

I like mine w/ a dash of hot sauce.

Curt and I have both been having a great week, but Curt specifically is doing amazing!

Lunch:
C and J: chicken wings

Dinner:
C and J: 9 oz steak, baked potato and salad w/ mustard vinaigrette dressing

Water:
C: 3 quarts water
J: 4 quarts water, 1 can diet orange fanta

Curt hit his next goal: 3 stones!!  He's had a FANTASTIC past couple of days!!!  The kids all went to their other parents' houses so we decided to go out for dinner.  We went to Outback Steakhouse for dinner where we discovered a FANTASTIC deal.  They have a 2 for $15.99 deal on Tuesdays, so we got both of our meals for under $17!!  We normally easily spend $50 every time we go there.  Anyways...  yes...  we both had baked potatoes, but we both asked for the toppings on the side and used the sour cream and butter sparingly.  And I'm going to find the recipe for that dressing on line...  it was FANTASTIC!  Gotta love FANTASTIC days!

I was reading thru a pile of magazines that my mother-in-law gave me and found an interview w/ Brooke Burke (host of Dancing with the Stars) and this is what she said about dieting: "If I really crave something, I'll eat it and then get right back into the groove afterward.  I don't feel like I've failed or fallen off the wagon.  Eating healthy should not be torture."  I think that I might just print that off and tape it to my mirror in my bathroom.  So with that in mind, that small baked potato (that I didn't eat all of) doesn't make me feel like a loser!

Something I realized...  we're not being extremely faithful to the Dukan Diet because I forget about alternating PP and PV days.  I get to thinking as long as I just stick with my protein and veggies that I'm all good.  I need to re-do my menu to reflect the alternating days.  And of course, I constantly, conveniently forget about the bran.  Stupid, nasty bran...  So that all said, I'm going to work really hard to be super strict.  I say "I" because realistically, I pretty much dictate what we eat.  So WE will be much stricter.. because I said so!  And this is when I add, "I love you, baby!!" for Curt when he drops in to catch up on what I'm saying about him!

Today we went to my cousin's son's 2nd birthday where pizza and cake were served.  I didn't touch the pizza.  AND...  this just made my day...  3 people told me I've lost weight and look great!  YAY ME!

C: 3 quarts of water
J: 4 quarts of water

So...  I have been CRAVING a BLT for weeks.  I've been probably annoying my husband talking about it!  While I reading my blogs, I read a recipe for Oat Bran Bread on Vicki's blog which she borrowed from Slim C's blog.  I had to try it, and today was that magical day for me!!!  I had to make a couple changes tho.  We must a super powerful microwave.  I put the mixture in the microwave for 2 minutes, no flipping it and it turned out perfect.  I put no salt in.  I used a no salt seasoning.  O.... M..... G....  our lives have been changed forever!  We've been wanting to eat egg salad and chicken salad sandwiches, sloppy joes, hamburgers.  I'm a little beyond excited at the possibilities!

And dinner:

It was so good, I had to stop and literally pat myself on the back.

On Monday, I had a slight fall...  I fell down the bottom 6 stairs.  My stinkin' socks were so slick and I completely lost my footing.  I swear...  I was air born and landed flat on my back, neck and shoulder.  The nice thing about it, I know my kids and husband care about me!  They all came running.  Maybe I should fall more often!  Anyhow.. I'm still feeling it today.  I dug through the medicine box and finally found something a little stronger and wow...  I'm feeling better now.  Maybe I can clean the house a bit today.

It's football playoffs this weekend.  Both of our teams are playing today, but not against each other (thank goodness).  So here were are dressed to cheer our teams.  Curt's team won a fantastic game.  My team sucked it up and their season is over.  So I will pull out my 49ers clothes and cheer on my husband's team til they're done (hopefully, Feb. 5 at the Super Bowl).

How did I put on 4 lbs in one day?!?!?!  In fact...  I don't think I ate enough food yesterday to even equal 4 lbs!  Ridiculous!  Anyways...  we're seeing the cycle Curt always goes thru.  He loses a nice chunk of weight, then puts some back on but loses it again.  We're seeing me stuck at the same old weight.  Bah!!

Why do I see her as MY cheerleader?

It's no secret that I always loved Jamie from afar during jr and sr high as we grew up together in the same youth group.  I was the nerdy guy who always thought the cheerleader was out of my league, and she was the girl who knew I liked her, but waited for me to make the first move... which I was too stupid to do...

Anyway...  here's some examples of us in high school:

Jamie is the bottom left blond.

Jamie..  still the blond.  I'm wearing the purple shirt w/ the mullet.

I'm on the far left, Jamie is ... still the blond, purple skirt, 2nd from the right.

Below:  I'm the one trying to kill a child, Jamie is wearing the blue shirt, jeans.

It's Curt again... Yes, I'm alive!!!

Hey all...  yeah, what a weird last couple of weeks!  Jamie hit the nail on the head there!

This morning's weight loss took me by total surprise, and makes me wonder.... how can there be a 6 lb difference from 6am vs noon?  I know we hadn't eaten or drank anything in that time, but gosh.. we didn't do anything but sleep!!!  Oh well, maybe that means we need more naps together!

My new shift stinks... it has pro's, but mostly cons for me.  I really don't like it.  My work has us bid for our shifts quarterly, so I'm stuck here until April where hopefully it'll change.  The nice thing is that I'm still working from home, and now that Jamie's not working I get to hang out with my favorite person on the planet all day long!

I'm also glad she's here because, while it might seem that I'm benefiting on the scale, I never know what to make for meals on this diet!  Every meal meant a phone call to her asking, "Ok, what am I eating for lunch?"

We both push to not call it a 'diet', but a life change.  And I see evidence of this EVERY DAY.  While we might not be the strictest Dukan-ites, that was not our goal.  Our goal was to make ourselves healthy and happy!  And we're getting there!

It's been great seeing the little things that have changed in my body!  For instance...  I am a T-shirt and shorts guy...  if I wear pants, something's wrong.  I wore sweat pants the other day and Jamie almost made me go change!  LOL!

Well, I've been noticing that I've been having to fold the waist of my shorts over and cinch them up with a belt just to get them to stay up.  I've been wearing size 52 pants for....  ugh, years...  at least 10 years.

Well, Jamie was shopping for clothes the other day and asked me if I wanted some new ones... SURE!  Her next question:  what size...  ugh...  I have NO idea... so, she got a 44 and a 42 to try.  Sizes I haven't worn in...  again...  I'm sure 12 years.

THEY FIT!!!  Yes, even the 42 fits ok!  Well enough I can wear it in public even!  LOL.  I was SO happy!!  Jamie was too...  I've said this before, but having the world's cutest cheerleader in your corner will make you strive to do ANYTHING.  Anyway, I've worn them a few times, even on my one day in the office this month last week.  I got asked about my weight by 3 different people who could tell a difference!  It was GREAT!  I can now shop in most normal stores for pants/shorts!  I'm elated!

Alright... I'm gonna go have dinner with this beautiful wife of mine.  I love getting to take the cheerleader home (yes, she was a cheerleader in high school, when I dreamed one day she'd be mine) and hold her hand all night long.

Have fun storming the castle!!!

Day 51

CURT: TOTAL LOSS: 40.0 lbs
JAMIE: TOTAL LOSS: 16.6 lbs

Curt hit an all time new low today!  And it really came out of the blue.  He started a new shift at work, working 3pm-11:30pm so the mornings are BRUTAL to say the least.  So this morning, he got up with the kids and I at 6:30, weighed in and was 6 lbs up!  Then we laid back down for 2 hours and got up and was at the new low!  He thinks the scales are broken.  I say take it and run!  Starting tomorrow, I'm going to go back to posting what we eat.  Keeps me more accountable.

January 6, 2012, day 46

Well... neither one one of us is great, but neither is awful either.  But...  I have to tell you all..  I've had an AWFUL week.  I've already discussed the job situation.  But I came home Friday morning and had an okay day, but if you ask my husband, and I will thoroughly agree with him, I had been acting "off" for a couple days.  But Friday night, I SNAPPED!  I know that it was a combination if the stress and the birth control pill, which I've had minor issues with before.  Well... this was by NO MEANS minor.  I went on total freak out. I was cussing, screaming, hitting walls (I have a bruise on my brow bone that I really have no idea how I got it, but it was from that night), holing up in a room...  in a ball...  chewing my nails...  in a very defensive stance.  It was NOT pretty. But, on the bright side, some stuff that had been weighing heavily on my for a few weeks got taken off my chest.  Funny thing about all of this, to some degree, was that we were working out that morning and I was reading my sheet for the birth control pills about the side effects.  I was worried about the migraines I was having, told Curt to make me call the doctor if I had one in the next day or two.  I also noticed I had what they called "breast tenderness."  Then I read through the rest, glanced at the part about the mood swings and depression.  It came full circle for me less than 12 hours and thank goodness, I recognized it, mentioned it to Curt ad he popped all my pills and I haven't had a problem since.  Except my period started over a week early.

Thursday, January 5, 2012, Day 41

Thursday, Jan 5, 2012
Day 41

Curt: no change
Jamie: ???

I'm still not home.  I will definitely weigh in tomorrow morning when I get home from work.  I've been suffering last night with ALOT of body pain and today, TWO migraine headaches.  I started birth control pills a week and a half ago and have had several bad headaches since them, so I'm wondering if they are the cause.  I'm ready to be done with work, this job...  Then Briyanna, my 13 year old daughter, called me today, upset w/ her dad.  He took the doors off her and her brother's room.  Now...  her brother..  I understand.  But she's done nothing.  So he told her, no door, no cheer, no church camp until they hand over Facebook passwords.  OH! by the way....  they are aren't even allowed on the computer at his house.  And there's no TV.  It's a bit disturbing. And frustrating.  There's nothing I can do over here.

Wednesday, January 4, 2012
Day 40
PP

CURT:  LOSS:  .4 lbs   TOTAL LOSS: 38.2 lbs
JAMIE: ???

Happy New Year, everyone!  For starters, Curt hit a new low today.  And I may be off on the math of how much he's actually lost, but I don't have the chart in front of me.  And I can't weigh in right now.  I've been working day in and day out.  I will have done 56 hours straight on Friday morning.  So...  I have news.  Good news if you ask me.  I quit my job today.  I don't get paid enough to get called a liar and a bitch and told that I'm playing favorites because I freakin' helped someone because they fell down and having a phone call from my boss asking what's going on because my client has locked herself in the bathroom with her Bible and a cross because she's afraid I'm going to hurt her...  What the....  anyways...  The past month has been this way.  I was told, "It's a phase and it will pass in the spring."  Yeah...  like I said, I'm not paid enough to be verbally and emotionally abused on a daily basis.  My boss begged me not to quit and transfer to a new house.  Nope...  I'm done.  I'm going to go back to sewing and hope that all works out for the best.  I'm not going to stress out about it.  All I've been doing about this current job is stressing out, so I need a break.  Today, even tho I'm at work, I've been plotting the sewing business... how I want to do it, what exactly to sell.  This is a touchy subject for me.  I quit sewing a few years back because my ex-husband decided that it was super manly to steal his ex-wife's sewing business.  I tell you what...  It IRRITATES me that he's doing it.  He has this little piece of paper that says he can work on just about anything that flies.  But instead, he chose to steal his ex-wife's business.  It's despicable... if you ask me. So now I have to compete with him now.
